InMotion offers an Intel dual-core 2GHz processor in its Essential plan, which seems to be the weakest processor specification of all the reviewed hosts. Also, no processor upgrade is available for this plan. With respect to hard drive capacity, InMotion ranks fourth with its offering of two 160GB hard drives. There are three other web hosts that offer a better hard drive specification, namely 1&1, HostGator, and ResellersPanel, with offerings of two 400GB, 320GB, and 250GB hard drives respectively. InMotion offers neither an upgrade for the hard drive nor any RAID option.
The 1GB of RAM included in the plan is also the lowest of all the web hosts on display. However, a free 2GB RAM upgrade is available; taking this into account makes InMotion a runner-up to 1&1, HostGator, and ServePath, all of which offer 4GB. When it comes to the included data transfer of 1500GB, InMotion is on par with HostGator and NetHosting, and only slightly better than ResellersPanel’s 1000GB offering. And in terms of the IP addresses included in the plan, InMotion shares third place with Hostway and NetHosting. Additional IP addresses are available, but there is no mention of their cost.
InMotion shares the lowest ranking on available operating systems with LunarPages, as it offers just a single operating system—CentOS—with its plan. However, the positive aspect is that it comes included with the plan at no added cost. The only available control panel is CPanel, which is also provided free with the plan. InMotion’s Essential plan includes a software firewall, but no SSL certificate. One can be obtained for a setup fee of $25, plus a recurring fee of $99.95 per year.
There’s no setup fee for this plan, but no appreciable discount is available, either. However, there is a money-back guarantee of 30 days. The plan comes at a price of $219.95 a month—the same price as HostDime, HostGator, Hostway, and ResellersPanel.
